Godalming Council No 185 - Official Visit by the District Grand Prefect

The Annual Installation Meeting of the Council was held on Monday, 9th January 2017 at Godalming Masonic Centre and was attended this year by R W Bro Raymond S.H. Hussey, District Grand Prefect for Surrey on his Annual Official Visit.

The Council was opened at 5.30 pm by W Bro Andrew Bridges DGIG, Worshipful Master, who extended a very warm welcome to the District Grand Prefect and also to all Members and Visitors. There were twenty six Brethren in attendance. The District Grand Prefect was accompanied on this occasion by a large number of the active District Grand Officers of the year (14 from a possible 20) all of whom he thanked for giving up their time to accompany him to the meeting. He then gave an account of the very successful December District Annual meeting and the very well supported July District Hog Roast, which would be held again this year.

The DGP reminded those present that he would be retiring from office this year, after ten years as our DGP, which he had enjoyed immensely.

Bro Michael Town was installed into the Chair of Worshipful Master, for the first time, by the outgoing Master W Bro Andrew Bridges DGIG, in a very sincere manner, following which W Bro Michael appointed and invested the Council Officers he had chosen to assist him during his year as Master.

22 Brethren later dined at an excellent and very convivial Festive Board when the Toasts of the Order were honoured.

The next meeting of the Court will be on 3rd Friday in July 2017.
