The First two District Meetings of the new decade...
The District Grand Council of West Midlands
Both our District Grand Prefect R.W.Bro John French and his Deputy District Grand Prefect W.Bro Bob Tuthill were very pleased to attend the Annual meeting of the District of the West Midlands, which was held on Saturday 26th January 2019 at Freemasons Hall, 218 Ashby Road, Burton-on-Trent DE15 0LA, and was followed with the festive board of devilled kidneys and Steak and kidney pie that this meeting is renowned for.
The meeting was preceded by the installation meeting of the Auxilium Council No 242, the Installed Masters Council for the District.
The District Grand Prefect welcomed the company of not only members of the District, but esteemed visitors from the Order in general. The photo shows the District Grand Prefect of the West Midlands, R.W.Bro Clifford Bull, who was presiding over his last meeting in charge, flanked by John and Bob.
The District Alms collection riased £447.40, which when Gift Aid is added, will result in a magnificent sum raised of nearly £560.
The District Grand Council of Southern Counties
The West Midlands meeting was closely followed a week later by the Southern Counties meeting in Botley, when again the District Grand Prefect accompanied by his Deputy were priviledged to witness the Grand Master M.V.Bro Thomas Firth Jackson install the new District Grand Prefect for Southern Counties, R.W.Bro Michael Whelan in a truly excellent manner.
It was a particularly happy occassion as our good friend W.Bro Anthony Green was also appointed as Deputy District Grand Prefect of the Southern Counties.
John and Bob were accompanied on this visit by W.Bro Ian Clark, the Provincial Grand Master of the Mark in Surrey who was a personal guest of Michael Whelan. The Grand Master had a Grand Team with him to help with the Installation and in his team were two other well known Surrey Allied Masons, namely V.W.Bro Eric Trodd as Grand Chaplain and W.Bro Anton Smith the Surrey Distict Grand Director of Ceremonies acting as the Grand Standard Bearer.
A truly excellent day and first rate festive board was enjoyed in a really happy atmosphere which prooves that the Allied Masonic Degrees are one of the happiest and friendly orders in Masonry.
