Annual District Grand Council Meeting for the District of Kent
The District Grand Council of Kent held there annual meeting at Gillingham on Saturday the 19th February and the District Grand Prefect of Kent R W Bro Peter Brockbank held a most enjoyable meeting with good numbers despite the extreme stormy conditions outside.
At the meeting the District Grand Prefect appointed W Bro Brian Ward as his Deputy District Grand Prefect.
Our Deputy District Grand Prefect has been friends of Brian for some years and he is sure that Brian will be a valuable addition to the Kent team.
At the meeting W Bro Bob Tuthill as the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Surrey represented R W Bro John French the DGP for Surrey who unfortunately had to cancel his attendance due to the sad illness of his father who had been taken seriously ill the day before, all of us at Surrey wish his father a speedy recovery.
Surrey was well represented with Bob being accompanied by the Senior Warden W Bro Richard Baker, the Junior Warden W Bro Simon Polkenhorne and the past Deputy District Grand Prefect V W Bro John Bryant, also present were Paul Fitzgerald and Zimmo.
Overall an enjoyable day meeting old friends and even seeing another Surrey Mason W Bro Les Smith appointed as the District Grand Inner Guard for Kent (come on Les you now have to join the Allied in Surrey).
Afterwards we all dined together at Gillingham to a fine festive board of ‘St Lawrence’ Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup, Kentish Roast Pork and Native Kent Apple Crumble which nicely completed the day before the ominous journey home braving the 80mph winds.
