A Golden meeting at Godalming

Last January, our District Grand Treasurer, W. Bro. Ray Seeley Installed W. Bro Hugh Johnstone into the Chair of Godalming Council.

After Hugh’s untimely death in April, Ray again found himself in the Chair on Monday 8th January, to open the Council and welcome the District Grand Prefect, R.W. Bro. John French, his Deputy, W. Bro. Bob Tuthill, and nine other active Officers of the year. The District Grand Prefect took the Chair and introduced the Officers accompanying him. After dealing with the minutes, he returned the gavel to the acting WM.

A ballot proving in his favour, Bro. Colin Clark was Introduced, Received and Admitted as a Brother of St Lawrence by W. Bro. Graham Rawlinson, who also gave the Lecture. Having resumed the chair, and using the shortened form of the ritual, W. Bro. Seeley then Installed W. Bro. Rawlinson, Master Elect, into the chair of St Lawrence the Martyr. The WM appointed and invested the officers, and after closing the Lodge, the customary photographs were taken.

The brethren retired to a very fine Festive Board, presided over by the IPM, as the incoming Master was unable to dine, where the usual Loyal and Allied toasts were taken.
